Frequently Asked Questions
Q – What sets CIBO apart from other bathroomware brands?
A - We're design driven, in that we design and manufacture most of our bathroomware products, including vanities, basins, linen cabinets, shaving cabinets, baths and accessories. We are quite niche in that our focus is predominately on bathroom storage and consequently we're experts in our field. We have a very extensive range of bathroom vanities to choose from, all are made from quality, moisture resistant materials and componentry.
Q - What information should I bring with me when I visit your showroom or one of your stockists?
A - The most important measurement to bring is the vanity width and depth that your bathroom space can accommodate. It's also helpful to identify the current location of the wastepipe within the layout/plan of your bathroom if possible.
Q - Do your vanities come in standard sizes?
A - Yes, we have a standardised range of vanity designs and the sizes are 750mm, 900mm, 1200 & 1500mm, we do also have clearance items in between these sizes starting at 550mm wide upwards. Most often the 1500mm wide vanities incorporate dual basins.
Q - I require an unusual size vanity – can you make a vanity to suit my needs?
A - Yes we specialise in custom made vanities, and many of our existing vanity designs can be made to an exact size (depending on material selected for the top, as ceramic tops are standard sizes), we can also work to you or your interior designer's or architect's individual brief. We're also happy to collaborate with you to create an exclusive design.
Q - What are the advantages and disadvantages of wall hung vanities opposed to full height?
A - Wall hung vanities tend to make the room look bigger as they maximise illusion of space by maintaining free floor space. They are more contemporary in style and are easy to clean under. We usually suggest the use of a shaving mirror cabinet and/or linen cabinet with a wall hung vanity in order to increase the amount of bathroom storage available.
The benefit of full height vanities is that they can cover plumbing/pipes and provide more storage space.
Q - Can you have a wall hung vanity if your plumbing comes out of the floor?
A - Generally speaking you can, but it will depend on your plumbing (waste pipe) location. The further towards the back of the vanity the waste pipe is the better it looks, then you can either paint the waste pipe the same colour as the tiles behind it (to make it disappear) or install a chrome cover over it.
Q - What about taps. Can I have zero, one or three tap holes as an option?
A - It depends on the top finish or material you select – Corian/Solid Surface, yes you can -Caesar Stone, yes you can - Ceramic, most come standard with one tap hole and usually two more can be drilled - Glass tops standard only come with one tap hole, if you require zero or three tap holes we can custom make the top to suit.
Q - When is the best time in the renovation process to purchase my vanity?
A - We suggest you purchase your vanity as early as possible, after you have confirmed the exact size and type required. It is always best to have it on site prior to your plumber ‘roughing in’ the pipework. Experience tells us that when the vanity is physically on site and the plumber can measure the set out against it, there is less scope for errors and delays.
You will need to store your vanity in a safe place where it won't get damaged by passing trades.
Q - I've got pipe work coming through centre of the vanity – can I still have drawers?
A - Yes you can, CIBO have designed a metal “scoop” to accommodate the pipe and still provide the drawer storage space.
